Negotiating for a Better Wholesale Cell Phone Price

Negotiation is a term that is always used in business. We actually do negotiation on a daily basis and this is not new anymore. This has been in practice since time immemorial. Not everyone knows how to do negotiation but everything can be learned and in a matter of weeks, you can be an expert in negotiations.

Negotiation is uncommon between customers and retailers. When there is a price tag on the item, this means that whatever you see there is deemed final already. On the other side, negotiation is seen between retailers and wholesale dealers and between wholesale dealers and manufacturers.

If you are a retailer and you do not feel like negotiating with wholesalers, you could be at the end of your game. It will be a win-lose situation. The winner is the wholesaler while the loser is the retailer, which is you. In the world of business and for a fair share of success, it should be a win-win situation for both parties.

Before getting into the actual negotiation, you have to be ready and informed. Having these two things with you will help you go through the negotiation process without problems. For starters, you can do a background check on the wholesaler you will be meeting with. Find out what specific products they are offering, other services that they have other than cell phones, among other things. What about the price? Is it lower or higher as compared to your expectations? Up to what extent do their services cover?

You did your assignment in knowing the wholesaler then it is also but proper to let them know who you are or what your company is. You can expect that the wholesaler knows nothing about you. Give a brief background on your company by starting with the history and how you came up with your business name and why you are into wholesale cell phones. Inform the wholesaler that you have plans of growing your business into something bigger and he or she could help you in doing so.

Be truthful of your intentions and where you currently stand. Do not give false hopes such as getting huge orders of which in reality you can only do so much. Falsification of information will only do more damage between you and your wholesaler. At the same time, do not be too honest to the point that you are giving away precious information that can be used against you. Just provide what is right and what is appropriate for the business.

Make sure that you ask for incentives during the negotiation process. Find out how you can get discounts so that you can make your cell phones competitive in terms of pricing. At the same time, if the pricing provided to you does not seem to be competitive at all, give the wholesaler the idea as to how other retailers are doing. This is where the actual negotiation sets in. Just let things flow. Say what you want to say about the pricing or the discount and wait for your wholesaler to come into terms with you.

Last but not the least, once you already come to a compromise, you need to make sure that this is not a deal gone with the wind. Put it into writing so that the compromised deal agreed between two parties has proof that these things transpired during the conversation.

Negotiation is not an overnight success. You may experience failures and you can also get some deals done. Make everything a learning process and eventually you will get there.
